Spirit of Tasmania V departed from the Rauma shipyard bound for Tasmania

The passenger car ferry Spirit of Tasmania V, built at the Rauma shipyard (RMC), set sail on October 30, 2025, with its crew, bound for its new home port of Devonport in Tasmania, Australia. RMC delivered Spirit of Tasmania V to its customer, the Australian TT-Line Company, in June 2025. Two car ferries bound for Tasmania have now been built in Rauma: Spirit of Tasmania V, delivered in June 2025, and the Spirit of Tasmania IV, which was built and delivered earlier in 2024. The Tasmanian ferries are designed to operate in Bass Strait, an Australian open sea route known for its challenging sea conditions. The completion of these ferries and the delivery of Spirit of Tasmania V mark the end of one of the largest export projects between Finland and Australia. Sister ships were built in Finland in the 1990s, which will be replaced by the new Tasmanian ferries, which have greater capacity than their predecessors in terms of passengers, vehicles, and cargo.

Best Partner Oy has been involved in building both Tasmanian ferries together with brokers and subcontractors. Long-standing cooperation with subcontractors at the Rauma shipyard has enabled the company to participate in the ferry construction project. The continuation of cooperation and work with subcontractors has been given a boost by the United States' decision to commission the Rauma shipyard to build two new icebreakers for them. Through Best Partner, many different professionals have been working at the shipyard, for example in electrical, insulation, welding, and painting work.
